PROPOSED ITINEARY FOR NAIROBI/MARA/NAKURU

Day 1: Nairobi 
On arrival at JKIA clients will be met by Karibu Kenya Representative briefed and immediately transferred to hotel Crowne Plaza Airport Hotel for overnight.

Day 2: Nairobi
After a briefing about the wonderful events ahead, get set for an exciting adventure as you visit the Giraffe Center for a lecture on their breeding strategy that has succeeded to increase the population of the endangered Rothschild's Giraffe followed by a visit with the center's giraffes at eye level. Next, visit Daphne Sheldrick's Elephant Orphanage at the edge of Nairobi National Park. The Elephant Orphanage is named after the first person to successfully master raising orphaned infant elephants and therefore continues her work as a nursery and rehabilitation center for infant elephants, as well as other wildlife, that have lost their families. During your visit you will see the elephants at the waterhole and salt lick feeding and socializing with each other. A member of the staff will accompany you to discuss the elephant's habits, upkeep, and rehabilitation that will eventually result in release into the wild at Tsavo East National Park. This afternoon, stop for lunch at Karen Blixen's Garden Restaurant then visit the Karen Blixen House, former home of the Danish Baroness Karen Blixen (1885‑1965). As the author of the book "Out of Africa", you will notice that the house and gardens remind you of scenes straight out of the book. Return to the hotel this evening for dinner.

Day 3: Nairobi – Maasai Mara
You will be picked from your hotel and immediately depart overland to the Masai Mara Game Reserve-jewel of Kenya’s Game Park arriving in time for lunch at Mara Leisure Camp or similar. This enormous Reserve actually part of the vast Serengeti plains is famously known for its spectacular great wildebeest migration and is a true home of the big five-Lion, Elephant, Leopard, Rhino and Cape Buffalo. After lunch, explore the Reserve on a late evening game drive.

Day 4: Maasai Mara
The Masai Mara is one of the greatest wildernesses of the world. Morning and afternoon   game drives are planned. Large mammals are varied, abundant and easy to see. Residents among the parks mammals are; Masai Giraffe, Buffalo, Impala, Zebra, Topi, both the Thomson’s and Grant’s Gazelles. Optional hot Air Balloon rides are available on this day at an additional cost. On this final day in the Mara, you also have an opportunity to visit an authentic Masai village. (full day game drive in the reserve) culminating the Mara River.  Dinner and overnight at the lodge.

Day 5: Maasai Mara – Lake Nakuru
After breakfast, Check out and depart for Lake Nakuru National Park with a brief lunch stopover in Nairobi. Lake Nakuru National Park was once described by American ornithologist Roger Tory-Peterson as “the most fabulous bird spectacle in the world.” The park and its lake play host to lesser flamingos and species of animals, including lion, leopard, rhino and hyena. Day 6: Lake Nakuru
Early morning game drive and return to the lodge for breakfast.  Rest of morning at leisure, while you watch the animals from the balcony of your rooms.  After lunch proceed for afternoon game drive Notable game within the lake includes gazelles and clawless otters. On the shores, roam waterbuck, Bohor's Reedbuck, and zebra. The woodlands and forest are home to both black and white rhino, buffalo, leopard, lion, Rothschild's giraffe, and Colobus monkey. The bush lands offer eland, steinbok, impala, Chandler's reedbuck and dik dik, whilst rock hyrax and klipspringer occupy the cliffs and escarpment. Later drive to the lodge for dinner.(optional horse riding at the lodge-extra cost)

Day 7: Lake Nakuru - Nairobi
Early morning game drive and return to the lodge for breakfast.  After breakfast depart for Nairobi arriving in time for lunch at Carnivore Restaurant.  Brief shopping in the supermarkets for coffee and tea.  Clients will either be transferred to JKIA for outbound flight back.
